Kindergarten
Kindergarten students will be going on a field trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo on Thursday, June 5th, 2025. Students will observe different animals in their habitats. This serves as a great way to end our learning of the seven continents and reinforce the animals we learned about.

1st Grade
Sandhill first grade students will be visiting the Planetarium at Madison Memorial High School. This is a live program in which the audience interacts with the planetarium instructor to explore the universe around us from our home perspective--planet Earth. We will explore two themes: where we live, and changes that happen in the sky over time.

2nd Grade
Sandhill 2nd Grade Students will visit the Madison School Farm on April 15 and 17th. Mrs. Girard's class will visit the farm on Tuesday, April 15th and Ms. Null's and Mrs. Ross's classes will visit the farm on Thursday, April 17th. Students will leave around 9:00am and return around 11:30am on both days. Students will eat lunch at school.
At the Madison School Farm, students are actively engaged in all the steps of running a small, urban farm. This field trip is a farm to table experience where students get to help prepare a farm, plant, harvest, and even prepare a healthy snack. This fits in with our English-Language Arts curriculum, Wit and Wisdom Module 4: Good Eating.

3rd Grade
Sandhill 3rd grade students and staff will be visiting the Bell Burnell Observatory on January 10th! During the field trip, they will have the opportunity to learn from an astronomer, explore Martian soil properties, and explore the observatory!

- Date: Friday, January 10, 2025
- Chaperones: None Needed
- Trip cost: $8.00 payable on the Campus Portal
- Timing: Leave Sandhill at 9:15 and return at 2:00
- Lunch: Students will need to bring a lunch from home or get one from the school food service (Taher)

- Complete the Field Trip Permission form. This form also contains a question about fingerprint scanning. Students are not currently being scanned to purchase food/milk from Taher. If you have already completed the field trip permission form but you do not wish your student to attend this trip, contact your child's teacher.

4th Grade
Sandhill Fourth Grade Students will be going on a guided hike of the Ice Age Trail in Janesville on Thursday, May 16. This tour ties in with our learning in Social Studies of how the Ice Age affected Wisconsin's history and geography.
On May 29th they will also go on a guided tour of the Wisconsin State Capitol. They will be shown the rooms where all three branches of our state government work. Our Fourth Grade Students learn about Wisconsin history, geography, economy and government, so this field trip is the culmination of that year-long learning.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?
- Chaperones: 5 adults chaperones per classroom for a total of 15
- Trip cost: $7 for transportation
- Timing: Around 9:00 departure and 2:00 for both trips.
- Lunch: Students will need to bring a lunch from home or buy one from Taher (the school food service provider)

5th Grade
Sandhill fifth graders are learning about Native American culture in their literacy class. On October 10th, we will go to the Hoard Historical Museum and Aztalan State Park to see Native American artifacts and learn more about their culture.
Time: 8:45 - 2:30
Fee: $10 for bus and admission to Hoard Museum
Lunch: Students will need to bring a lunch from home or get one from Taher (school food service provider)
Chaperones: 9 total chaperones needed for this trip
